The Alibi Room
The Alibi Room is a restaurant and lounge with an available private room (newly revovated) located in the industrial district of Vancouver's Historic Gastown. The building is a heritage site, which was erected over 100 years ago. It is positioned along the railyard and only a short distance from Vancouver's trade and shipping ports. All of these elements combined make for a unique and inspiring experience. The Alibi has established itself as a place for neighbours and community to share in food, music and culture.
After 8 years in business, the Alibi Room is now under new ownership (Nigel Springthorpe & Raya Audet). This change has brought forth new ideas and energy and spawned a new chef (Paul Finlay) with an exciting new menu, influenced by the Modern English Bistro. See our online menu section for current plates. ■
Private Parties
Reserve tables in the dining room, lounge or reserve the entire room. Dine upstairs then move to the lounge after dinner for easier mingling... we are flexible. We offer special menus, seating and sound | for groups from 2 to 200. ■

Film
The Alibi occupies the two lower floors of a five story post & beam brick building. The Alibi's design concept is minimal; the natural features of the room are highlighted without unnecessary ornamentation and colour. The design has proved to be versatile and accommodating for groups using the space for film projects. Many production and film companies have utilized the Alibi Room for filming, readings and wrap parties. The character and history of the space are colourful; rumour has it we have a ghost. There is a strange labyrinth of hallways and doors behind the wall on the west side of the building, which are accessible through the fire exit. In the height of Gastown's glory days the building housed a popular bbq chicken joint where the line-ups would extend down the block. ■
